Institutional Representative (UNIGE)

Nicolas Levrat is a Dr. in public international law and professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva since 2001.
He was Director of the European Institute (IEUG, 2007-2013) and Director of the Global Studies Institute (GSI, 2013-2015). He is started a second mandate as GSI president since 2020.
His teaching areas innclude European law, local authorities and European integration, federalism and democracy in Europe, law of international organizations; while his research areas are European institutional law, European legal order(s), status of public authorities in Europe, law of minority groups, cross-border cooperation, governance in complex institutional systems, Switzerland-Europe relations.

He is also an associate member of the Center for International Law and the Center for Public Law of the ULB, co-founder of the Network for the Study of Cross-border and Inter-territorial Norms (RENTI), member of the Academic Council of the doctoral school erasmus mundos Globalisation Europe and Multilateralism (GEM), co-director of the Swiss Doctoral School on the Foundations of European and International Law, member of the Editorial Board of the Belgian Journal of International Law, member of the Steering Committee of the EU-Topias Journal, member of the Steering Committee of the European Centre for Culture and Vice-president of the Rencontres Internationales de Genève.
